A fearless advocate for overcoming cultural barriers in religion, songwriter-producer Israel Houghton, alongside his then-wife Meleasa, founded the New Breed Ministries in 1995. Together with this group of world-class singers and musicians, Houghton extensively toured the country’s churches and bible belts, uniting black, white, and Latino communities through joyous contemporary Christian music.
Israel & New Breed have released nine number-one albums across the Top Christian and Gospel Albums charts, winning numerous accolades from major award-giving bodies. At the GMA Dove Awards’ Contemporary Gospel category, the group has claimed four Albums of the Year, with five Songs of the Year to match: "Again I Say Rejoice,” "Not Forgotten,” “Turn It Around,” “Say So,” and "The Power of One (Change the World)."
