Introducing The Shorty Gras Tour last year, fans were hooked and craved for more. Now, they're turning things right up! Giving audiences outside of Louisiana a taste of New Orleans' Mardi Gras traditions, it's an experience you can't miss out on. A cultural icon for his contributions to the Orleans jazz scene, millions of listeners have tuned in to the prodigy's talent since he was four. Performing with the iconic Bo Diddley at the age of six, he went on to lead his own band as a teenager. Beyond his actual playing skills, the man's charisma is so magnetic that he's got crowds falling in love in every show.
With a unique blend of Jazz, R&B, and folk, his soulful notes remain unmatched in the industry. Finding his edge with the trombone "because the family already had a trumpet player", it all paid off. As a child prodigy, his journey wasn't all that glitter and gold, he was fueled by passion - participating in protests in his hometown. Stopped by police when his bunch were playing in Jackson Sqaure, ""Because of that moment, the kids and people who want to play on the street are still able to do that because of what we did," he shared with CBS News.
"Without New Orleans, I wouldn't be here... And I really mean that with my whole heart," he added.
Taking pride in his roots, the man brought Orleans jazz music to the map, inspiring a new generation of musicians for his talent, accolades, and service to his local community. Setting up The Trombone Shorty Foundation, he aims to preserve musical heritage - taking kids on exchange trips to Cuba where he desired people to see the power of music in young artists.
Taking Mardi Gras back to the stage across the nation, get ready for Trombone Shorty's magic on the horn.
