North American Tour 2025

Markéta Irglová and Glen Hansard, otherwise known as The Swell Season collectively, will be returning to North America for a HUGE 2025 tour. After opening the road trip in Vienna, Virginia on 11th of July, the pair will hit a number of major cities throughout the continent including Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Atlanta, with one major stop in Dallas. 

Since breaking through into the scene back in 2007 with the triumph of the movie Once, The Swell Season have been performing together and touring all over the world. In 2023, they dropped their first new music together in more than a decade. Before that, they celebrated a huge milestone… the 15th anniversary of the Oscar-winning movie with an unforgettable anniversary tour.

And now…. The Swell Season is back and better than ever with a new tour for 2025 and a brand new album. After joining forces again for a limited number of sold-out shows in March 2022 and a more extensive North American tour in August 2023, the pair have returned with awesome, new music. A studio session that began as an effort to make a couple new singles to bring with them on the road, ended up cultivating a full length album, titled “Forward.” Forward will be their first full length album in a longggg 16 years.

The record boasts 8 tracks written by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, who take turns taking the lead. Accompanied by familiar band members Joe Doyle, Marja Gaynor and Bertrand Galen, and produced by the talented Sturla Mio Thorisson, this is a sound that is equal parts familiar and new for The Swell Season.

Markéta Irglová and Glen Hansard rose to superstardom together starring in Once. The movie was such a hit that they won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song with their composition “Falling Slowly.” The soundtrack was so awesome that it garnered not one but two Grammy nominations. After that, the duo went on to release the critically acclaimed record Strict Joy and toured the globe.
