The heavy lockdown era of the COVID-19 pandemic was a rough time for everyone. You could argue that doctors and ER nurses had it the worst during these moments. That was exactly the time that Nurse John decided to turn to TikTok and provide some much-needed humor for the world. Nurse John is an actual ER nurse, buuut after singing with Netflix and now embarking on his second tour, it’s hard to see him going back to the hospital any time soon! His “Short Staffed” tour has a date in Dallas’ Majestic Theater on Thursday, January 16th 2025. With so many shows booked in advance, it’s pretty safe to say that comedy is his new full-time gig.

It’s normal to be a bit skeptical about the transition from TikTok to the live show. Now, keep in mind that Nurse John’s got a Netflix contract, and he’s on his second tour. That’s proof enough that he’s able to replicate the success that he had in the short videos within the live show. In his first outings on tour, he did a lot of the bits that made him famous on the social media platform. Part of that, for example, was wearing different wigs and acting out like some of the other characters from the life in ER. Judging from the promo for this “Short Staffed” show, you can expect some more of the same to come to the Majestic Theater.
That’s perhaps one of the main reasons that he’s able to have success in different comedy formats. He’s kept the Nurse John persona, and he keeps developing bits around that. What gets a lot of these TikTok stars in trouble when you take them away from their original format is their tendency not to do what made them famous. It seems simple enough, if you’re able to stick with what you know, you’ll have a better chance at success. Nurse John, for his part, has been excellent at this. He’s leaned into the character and the environment that the character was created in. If you’re a fan of his from TikTok, there’s really no reason why you wouldn’t be able to enjoy his live show!
The Majestic Theater is a great venue to watch any comedy show. Keep in mind, though, that a lot of the bits that Nurse John brings to the stage are “helped out” by the wigs and the outfits. This is not a show where the comedian is just going to be standing on stage telling jokes. Having said this, you could be better off looking for a spot near the stage.
